☞  창조와 관련된 성경 말씀을 살펴봅시다.

2) John 1;1-3

In the beginning was the Word, and the Word was with God, and the Word was God.

* in the beginning은 부사구로서 부사구를 강조할  때 문장 앞으로 나가조 주어 동사가 도치된다. 여기서의 be동사는 '존재하다, 있다'라는 존재의 의미를 지니기 때문에 보어가 필요하지 않은 1형식을 취하는 완전자동사이다.

a) 원래의 문장은 The Word was in the beginning. 말씀이 태초에 있었다.

                          주어     be동사    부사구

b) 도치된 문장 : In the beginning was the Word

                         부사구       be동사   주어

He was with God in the beginning.

Through him all things were made; without him nothing was made that has been made.

* 수동태 were made는 '만들어지다' 라는 뜻으로 made(~을 만들었다)를 수동태로 바꾸어 준 형태이다.

a) 능동태 문장 : Through him God made all things.

b) 수동태 문장 : Through him all things were made by God.

수동태(be동사 + 과거분사)에서는 능동태의 목적어가 수동태 문장의 주어가 되고 동사는 be동사 + 과거분사로 바꾸어 준다. made는 make의 과거 시제 이므로 수동태로 바꾸었을 때도 are made의 과거 시제인 were made가 쓰였다.

3) Genesis 1:1

In the beginning God created the heavens and the earth.

* In the beginning은 '처음에는, 우선 처음에'라는 뜻이고, 반대말은 in the end(결국에는, 마침내)dlek.

4) Hebrew 11:3

By faith, we understand that the universe was formed at God's command, so that what is seen was not made out of what was visible.

* that the universe was formed at God's command,는 understand라는 동사의 목적어이다. 이는 접속사 that이 이끄는 명사절로 주어, 보어, 목적어 자리에 오는데, 여기서는 목적어 자리에 왔다.

예문] That the universe was formed at God's command is amazing.(주어 자리)

        My belief is that the universe was formed at God's command.(보어 자리)

* so that 절은 보통 목적을 나타내는 접속사로 뜻은 '하기 위해서'로 많이 쓰이며, 이렇게 쓰였을 때는 부사절로 동사를 꾸며 준다. 절 안에 보통 may나 can 같은 조동사가 나오는데, 목적이 아닌 결과를 뜻 할 때는 '그 결과, 그러므로, 그 때문에' 라는 뜻을 지니며 may나 can이 나오지 않는다. 또한 이 경우에는 등위접속사처럼 절과 절을 연결한다.

I am going to the theater early so that I may get a good seat.(부사절)

His father died suddenly, so that he had to support his family financially.(절과 절 연결)

* what is seen(보여진 것)과 what was visible(보이는 것)에는 관계대명사 what이 쓰여 해석은 ~하는 것'으로 한다. 관계대명사 what은 선행사 the thing that(=which)을 포함한다.

A) The thing was not made .

B) The thing is seen.

→ The thing was not made and the thing is seen.

A)의 the thing과 B)의 the thing을  반복 사용하는 것을 싫어하는 영어의 성격 때문에 and the thing은 접속사의 역할을 하는 관계대명사 which로 A)의 the thing 뒤에 바로 연결 되었다. B)의 the thing이 주어 자리에 있었기 때문에 이를 주격 관계대명사라고 한다.

The thing which is seen was not made.(관계대명사 주격 용법 사용)

보여지는 것은 만들어지지 않았다.

What is seen was not made.(관계대명사 what 사용 가능)

* be made out of~는 보통 '~는 ~에서부터 만들어지다'
